Obituary For Donna (Hannigan) Malerba

Donna (Hannigan) Malerba a lifelong resident of Lowell died at age 61 on November 28, 2022, at Lowell General Hospital. Donna's strength, courage, and gentle spirit were unwavering as she surrendered to unrelenting cancer. Described as “such a little love” by those who knew her, with her bright eyes, kind nature, and a healthy dose of truth she collected trusted friendships throughout her life. She will be greatly missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the numerous teams of DMH case managers that have helped and supported Donna through the years, most recently her Vinfen team that earned her trust and helped support Donna when she needed it the most.

She was born on December 18, 1960, the daughter of the late Jacqueline Langlais and Robert Hannigan, Sr. She is survived by her much loved sons: Dennis Malerba of Seminole, OK, and Aaron Malerba of Cambridge, MA; her beloved granddaughter Hazel Malerba of Seminole, OK.; four sisters: Lori Piacenza and her husband Thomas of Hampton, NH; Nancy Hannigan of Naples, FL; Patricia McSwiggin and her husband Robert of Dracut, MA; Christine Bogacz and her husband Mark of Concord, NH; two brothers: Robert Hannigan, Jr. and his wife Gayle of Windham, NH; Scott Hannigan and his wife Lisa of Naples, FL; many nieces and nephews that loved their Auntie Donna.

Donna was a long-standing member of the Renaissance Club community, participating in many programs through the years, and benefited from their daily lunch delivery service to her home during the COVID-19 lockdown.

This outreach program provided life-sustaining meals to housed shut-ins living on the fringe during a pandemic. If you're interested in supporting this organization in Donna's memory, checks may be mailed to: Renaissance Club 176 Walker St, 2nd Floor Lowell, MA 01854
